For business owners and their employees who have been working in downtown Boca Raton over the years, the growth and transformation that’s underway has been an incredible sight to witness. Sleepy Boca Raton is bustling with newly opened apartments, condos that are poised to be built, the first hotel and a business community that is eager to rally around all of this excitement.

The expressed mission of the DBA will be to work closely with local Boca Raton city officials to intelligently manage the growth that’s underway from the vantage point of the companies who have a presence in downtown Boca Raton.

Areas of focus will include:

  • Having a unified voice to represent the issues business owners face
  • Strategies to improve traffic and parking
  • Building comradery within the local business community
  • Supporting charitable causes

Events will include:

  • Member meetings
  • Happy hour events
  • Creating teams for charity efforts that often begin at Mizner Park

Local businesses were invited to attend this initial meeting and submit a membership application. The event took place at the brand new Hyatt Place hotel on the corner of South Federal Highway and Palmetto Park Boulevard.

Boca Raton’s Mayor, Susan Haynie was in attendance and gave a brief speech. Michael Liss, one of the group’s co-founders also shared insights on the DBA’s objectives. He spoke about the need for such an organization to exist and the potential to make a positive impact on downtown Boca’s future growth by tackling issues that are meaningful to both the businesses and the folks who call (and will call) downtown Boca Raton home.
