Everyone knows that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and communities across the country go to great lengths to rally their troops for this noble cause and disease that unfortunately affects too many women.

Most of the major business in Boca Raton,  including companies like www.morevisibility.com enlisted their team members to raise funds and participate. Many of the schools, charitable organizations and housing communities also enlisted team members to participate.

For the past several years,  the local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer effort by the South Palm Beach American Cancer Society has taken place in late October. The walk begins in Mizner Park and heads east onto Mizner Boulevard, makes a left onto Palmetto Park Road,  then travels due east toward the beach. The scene at Mizner is carnival-like with music, pets a police escort and a sea of people decked out in pink.

Along the way, businesses that line the roadway, such as Douglas Elliman Real Estate have their employees (and their families) handing out water and cheering on the walkers.  It’s estimated that over 20,000 people participated in this year’s walk, which likely translates to a significant amount of money being raised for this valuable cause.

We’re already looking forward to next year’s fantastic time event.
